When I first started experimenting with surreal photography I was struggling with a mental illness and my work was a form of therapy for me. It allowed me to reflect the scary and dark emotions that I found difficult to explain in words. As a result of the suffering, my personal work went through some dark times with me, it was like a friend who I could turn to when nothing else helped.
I did genuinely enjoy creating creepy work, and I drew inspiration from supernatural horror films and TV shows. My favourites were ‘The walking dead’, ‘the exorcist’ and, although not a horror film, ‘the nightmare before christmas’. (‘This is halloween’ became my theme tune for October)
One of my lovely friends (Thanks Lisa!) recently tagged me in a post to apply to exhibit at ‘The hare and hounds’ pub for their Halloween exhibition and of course I applied straight away with some of my darkest work.
So the conclusion of this post is that I am pleased to announce that I have 3 pieces of my personal work currently up at the Hare and Hounds pub on London rd in Brighton. All 3 pieces are available to buy, frames included!
If you fancy a creepy exhibition, a drink and maybe some super tasty Mexican food then head down to the Hare and Hounds.
